Painting and Politics

The creative industries have been hard hit by the pandemic, but are a vital part of London’s economy and society. This event will explore how we can make sure the sector not only survives today but thrives tomorrow, while giving participants the opportunity to explore their inner artist.

Join us for a mix of serious discussion and light-hearted, creative fun.

Lib Dem Mayoral Candidate, Luisa Porritt, speaks to Gareth Lewis Shelton, one of the founders of PopUp Painting, about how his business has been impacted over the last year, what the Mayor and the Government can do to help small and medium sized businesses, and his hopes for the future of London. They will be doing some painting while speaking and you are also invited to unleash your creativity - glass in one hand, paintbrush in the other.

No experience is needed - you will be guided step-by-step through creating your own masterpiece. Gareth will be taking you through this painting with basic acrylic paints, a cup of water, a selection of brushes, some napkins and a palette – but feel free to join in with whatever you have to hand.

The interview and painting session will last for one hour, but feel free to stay on the zoom afterwards to ask Gareth and Luisa questions and for a social chat over a glass of wine or a cup of tea.
